The writing on the wall

Hello my crafty peeps I hope you are all well.
I have something different to share with you today as you know I  have decided to dip my fingers into mixed media and art journaling and have covered a couple of art journal books all ready for me start, so I thought I better make a start.

So for my first page this is what I came up with and I have to say I’m really pleased with it. I used a couple of new things to me on it hoping they turned out OK and they really did.
Firstly I stamped the image which is called Francesca she is one of the Wonky Tonk Girls by Tracy Easson. I love these girls (yes I have them all eekkk). I coloured her with my polychrome onto watercolour card. Now I went for a darker skin tone as I knew the background was going to be darker in places. I’m really pleased with how she turned out considering I usually do a lighter tone, and of course she rocks the pink hair!!

For the background I gesso’d the page firstly then added my texture paste (this is the other first) usually I use homemade texture paste, but I saw somewhere (proably in youtube) you can use poly filer. So I was intrigued and so I brought some I got the interior kind which is finer and more smooth in texture and the exterior which is more coarse. I used both on the page using the exterior on the brick stencil and the finer one on the bubbles and cross effect.  The brick and dots stencil are by Imagination Crafts and the other one is by Creative Expression.(all links below)

The ink sprays I used were by cosmic shimmer and ranger distress sprays
Once I was happy with the colour I let it dry then stamped some of the small stamps which came with the Wonky Tonk Girls and then I also used a mini script stamp from paperArtsy just to add interest.
I wanted the wall to look a little like it had been graffitied so I took the word stamps from the Wonky Tonk Girls stamped them onto a coloured water coloured scrap I had then fussy cut them out then added to the wall randomly.

To finish off I added some gilding wax here and there and there you have it. I hope you like it as much as I do and I’ll see you soon.

New Beginnings over at Polkadoodles

Hello crafty peeps I’m here today sharing my DT make for the new challenge over at Polkadoodles . This week us DT girls have been set the challenge to make something with the theme new beginnings so I headed straight for the Celebrations kit (kit 1) and used new job and teamed her up with one of the papers from the kit and one of the sentiments. I wanted the card to be clean and simple so I printed the sentiment straight onto the paper then after colouring her with my polychromo pencils I fussy cut her out and added her with 3D tape.
Don’t forget for you guys the theme is always Anything Goes so come on over and join us.
Hope you like it and I will see you very soon

Ragged Anniversary

Hello Mo fans, I’m here today to share my inspiration card for you today.
It was my Mom & Dad (in law) weddding Anniversary on the 1st of this month so I had to make them a card and I came up with this.

I used an 8x8” card blank and backing papers from Polkadoodels  and I have distressed the edges. The sketch I used is from Jules over at

The image is called Ragged Romeo isn’t it just the sweetest I coloured it with my Polychrome, Pablo and Prisma pencils. Then made a mask and inked around the image with Distress oxide inks.
To finish the front I added the sentiment to the bottom of the card by attaching some thin ribbon and securing at the back.

I then added the insert which I made using papers from the front and bringing the image through to tie it all together.

Hope you like it and I’ll see you soon

when is a door not a door...?

Hey, crafty friends, I’m back today to share another mixed media project with you. I had soooooo much fun altering the first journal cover I shared with you that I bought another one and have covered that one too.  I have now completely finished the first one doing the back very similar just  keeping it flat and adding some texture and colour to look like the front, but for this one, I’ve gone all out lol

Firstly I made the back yes I started back to front I saw the lovely Marta do a coaster size brick effect and thought it looked amazing so I thought maybe I can do something very similar to the back of this. So I got to thinking  I didn’t have any chipboard cut off’s like she did so I made my own taking 2 8x8” kraft card squares and sticking together to make thicker once dried I cut strips the cut brick shapes in the size I wanted then glued on using a gel medium.

Once dried  I added tissue paper to cover all the front making it more crumpled in some places than others I added this with so gesso. Once that had dried it was just left to paint it and that was the fun part, I used some patina paint I had brought from one of the craft fairs I went to and some acrylic paints I had in browns and black and just kept adding until I was happy then left to dry.

On to the front, again the lovely Marta gave me the inspiration for this is although hers is totally different to mine the idea is the same. I used the same card for as for the bricks (there was plenty left over) and cut a piece smaller than the book cover  then 4 smaller pieces to sit inside this and another 4 to sit on top of these plus a thin strip to go across the middle to hold the door knocker (which is an old earring). I covered everything in gesso then painted with the patina paint (it has the most amazing texture to it so gritty). I then glued it all down using wet glue and left to dry. While drying I got to making the trellis work I die cut a piece of card with a trellis die then cut this into 3 pieces 2 for the front of the door to like some sort of shutter, and another smaller one at the bottom to look like a trellis fence I painted them all the match then added some trailing buds and some roses to the fence before gluing to the cover.

To finish both pieces I just added some gilding wax to add a little shimmer.
Hope you like it and I will see you soon

For my card I have  used papers and image from the work and play Love and Romance
The card is smaller than usual 5½” square card but I thought it was cute lol
I laid the image onto one of the papers with the sentiment then printed off then printed my largest paper direct onto the card then cut the card to size and added the second paper
Hope you like it and I will see you soon

Bee-cause I love you

Hello peeps, I’m here today to share my DT post for MO Manning I am still pinching myself about being on this DT (even if it is for a short time)lol.
Anyway let’s get on with my card, this is ANOTHER first for me. Yep can you believe it, check me out trying new things hahaha.
My card is roughly about 6x7”,  I then cut a frame using sue Wilson dies.

I then got some vellum and got to creating the magic lol. Now this is the first for me.
To create the background I stamped (yes physically stamped)  the hearts onto the vellum and then embossed with white embossing powder this created the resist technique I needed. Then I got playing I sprinkled different shades of red brushos onto the vellum and then sprayed lightly with water. I had to be careful not to add to much water as I didn’t want the vellum to buckle too much, I also wanted to still see some of the dots of brushos I didn’t want them all to blend away.
I then punched different size and shaped hearts out of card and coloured with brushos (I just have way to much fun with these paints) then added glossy accents and let dry

Now the fun bit I started to colour my image called Be-Mine she is just so stinking cute I love her. I
coloured her with a mix of polychromo and prisma pencils, then fussy cut her out. I also cut out the sentiment I printed out with her.

Then I put it all together adding the vellum behind the frame then putting the cutie to one side of the card, adding the sentiment then the punched hearts and BINGO all done
Hope you like it and I will see you soon

Alter journal Cover

Hello everyone, I’m back today to share a first for me, so please be kind lol I have never done this before, A while ago I thought about getting into journaling mainly to help with my depression. I haven’t done much just one piece so far, it’s a little out of my comfort zone as it’s new to me. Also the journal I brought originally was an A4 size which I found very daunting to fill a page. So the other day I found anA5 one and brought it it was a plain black covered one but I thought that could be my first project on there to alter and decorate the cover, so that is what I’m sharing with you today.

The design is inspired by Nadya Drozdova she did a youtube tutorial on one a few days ago and I thought I like that so I took some of the details and used it as my platform.

I’m not going to run through how it was made I really can’t remember it was just going through my stash finding stuff I wanted to add to it or making the stuff I hadn’t got that I wanted to add like the paint brushes. They are made using plastic coffee stirrers as a base I then drew around one onto thick 300gsm card stock for the shape then cut out glued to the stirring stick then coloured with distress inks and added the bristles by drawing them on with a couple of brown pencils I then added some craft wire for the metal part that holds the bristles in place. I wasn’t too bothered that they looked animated after all this is a freestyle journal that will have anything inside it.

Oh and yes the bottle have actual paint and glitter in (so hope they don’t break lol)

Over all as my fist I am really pleased with it. Hope you like it.

Challenges  ring in the new (Art journaling and altered cover is new to me)
